Relaxing 4th

We had a really nice, long holiday weekend! Mike took Thursday off from work, so we had 4 days of relaxing family time. We took walks every morning--Mike has taken a liking to the Baby Bjorn carrier, and so has Sophie! On Thursday we had a day outing to the Outlet Mall in Williamsburg, IA and had our newly traditional holiday meal in the Amana Colonies (I think we started going there Labor Day last year, and have managed to get there a few more times since--you just can't beat a midwestern, family style meal with spaetzle and schnitzel!). Sophie was great all day, until about 4 p.m., when we were 30 minutes from home--apparently she wanted to be home right then! On the 4th we had lunch with our friends Tom, Cami, and their son, Henry. Its always fun to see them and catch up! Then on Saturday we went to Ames to Great Plains Sauce and Dough--great pizza! Sophie slept for most of the day in her carseat, while we were eating and traveling. Sunday was a pretty low key day--especially after I chopped off the tip of one of Sophie's fingers while trimming her nails with the baby clipper--big Oops!! But, we all survived, and Sophie's finger is just fine now!  I just don't want to experience that ordeal any time again soon! Enjoy the photos! Doesn't Sophie look patriotic in her little denim dress?

Isn't she just the cutest?! Sophie looks so grown up sitting in that chair in her little denim dress! And she and her daddy look great in their walking mode - that's a great way to get around! She's changing every day -- what a delight! Love, Grammy
