On Tuesday we met our friends Shanna & Sam at the mall for play time and some lunch. It was an interesting experience for me--in a good way! From the moment we stepped into the play area (the padded floor instantly surprised me and at the same time reminded me that I was entering "kid zone"), my senses were pushed to the next level. Laughter and energy instantly surrounded us, it was invigorating as well as a tad overwhelming--but my friends were there to help me quickly acclimate! Sam ran around fearlessly and Shanna kept close tabs on him all the while. Sophie just kept sleeping in her carseat--evidence, once again, that once she's asleep there's no waking her!
I watched from the bench that surrounds the inside of the play area and took it all in. It was really fun to watch the kids--so many different ages and levels of development, not to mention hairstyles and clothing options! It was fun--this was a whole new level of people watching and mommy-dom! And, of course, being the germ conscious new mother and a nurse (with a new special interest in infectious diseases!), those thoughts of drool sharing couldn't be stopped from wriggling into my mind...thank goodness for immune systems!
I'd go back--and, I think Sophie will eventually be introduced into the drool pool as well...
Here are photos of our friends--it looks like they're in a water park, doesn't it?
A quick side note--Sam has grown up so much and is a fun toddler to be around (he's a little over a year and a half now)! You should be very proud of him, Shanna--you (and Devon, too) "done good" with him!

What Fun! The first time will be the most difficult to let Sophie go (that will always be the case,Mom!). Then, it will become part of the fun of watching her grow up and associate with all those other drooling toddlers and a time for you to relax and visit with your friends. AH, those Mommy days.
